Pleasantville
As I looked through the viewfinder of my X100, the movie "Pleasantville" came to my mind. So unexpected to see such a vivid sky and a tranquil town.

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Eastern Malaysia, Borneo
This city reminds me of the 60's and 70's of Hong Kong. It may be seen as not that developed but at least I could see something I missed. Sometimes we have gone too far with our technology and forgot who we were once.

Central Market, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Eastern Malaysia, Borneo
This city is so familiar to me, especially the wet market near the waterfront. Look at those kids on photo 3. Kind of a reflection on myself. Gotta be thankful for how I was taught to use the chop board and knife, and to cook and so to live on my own. That's what we call it "a living".

HSBC, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Eastern Malaysia, Borneo
This branch was here quite many years ago. These told the old relationship between Hong Kong and this place, especially when we watched the old TV dramas for our senior movie actors and actresses going to Borneo for stage performance.

Mangroves and the wild life, Gaya Island Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Borneo
Mangroves play an important role in the eco. system of the Nature. It provides a shelter for many living things and so a place for them to look for food. I saw quite some unexpected wild life and they all showed up unexpectedly.
Paradise Tree Snake - a kind of gliding snake |
This was the first scene I saw it and it appeared just like the Loch Ness monster. |

Canopy Villa, Gaya Island Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo
The resort has various types of villas at different elevations. Stayed at this Canopy villa which is in the sheltered area left of the main section, with a pond in the lower ground. The room itself is the same as the other types of villas. As the swimming pool is very nice, staying at the villa isn't that important. In fact, it's better to stay at a lower elevation for the convenience to access to the beach and the pool. The room is quite comfy - nice bed, cozy bath room and a spacious sun bed area.

The Feast Village, Gaya Island Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Eastern Malaysia, Borneo
Looks like a giant cage on the outside but the guests wouldn't feel like being so, as it has some open doors to take a nice view to the sea. There it came the balmy morning sunlight in thru' the doors. So I took a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice as a chill start up for a nice breakfast with fresh green veggie, beef bacon and toast. The stir fried flat rice noodle, as freshly made to your order, was surprisingly good.

The swimming pool, Gaya Island Resort, Kota Kinabula, Eastern Malaysia
What a secluded resort should have is a big nice swimming pool and services. This resort has done a very good job in this part. The furnishing is nice and the water is very clear. The guests will be given some complimentary chilled snacks like an mango passionfruit ice bar (photo 4/5) and every 1-2 hours some chilled iced water is served.
