Little Flanders, Canggu, Bali

This place looks quite cozy but its higher ranking on the food forum made me hesitate to go in, since I'm really losing confidence in those food forums.
Noticed on the black board the lobster pasta was just about US$18.  Out of curiosity, we gave it a try.  Beside this dish, we ordered a Hokkien noodle.  It was heavily seasoned in heavy soy sauce plus Hoi Seen (seafood) sauce.  When the lobster pasta was served, I was on a high hope and surprised that there were 2 lobsters (not so small) served.  As when I pressed on the meat, I knew it's undercooked.  Then I ripped the inside part, it was still transparent (though it means very fresh).  I then told the waitress that it's undercooked.  Even though it's not acceptable for this lobster being undercooked, further that it's in common sense any seafood being re-cooked again wouldn't taste any better, the dish was put back on the table after some pasta was taken out but not being replaced.  Sadly the dish was totally destroyed.  As when the owner noticed my black face, he came to show up and get social by saying "well, a very rich lunch you have".  I replied at a cool tune "not so".  Then he tried to warm up the conversation by asking if the lobster was fresh...etc.  I didn't give a note but nod nod.  If he could have gone more straight forward by not testing the water, I wouldn't go "cooler".  Simply there shouldn't be a chance to explain as I wouldn't go back for sure.

Breakfast at Ametis Villa Canggu, Bali

The restaurant was closed during my stay, and so the breakfast can be arranged for being taken in the villa or in the lobby area.  On the first morning, I chose in the villa.  However, some dishes were luke warm when all the dishes were prepared and served at one time.  So the next morning I decided to take it the lobby area.  Overall the breakfast wasn't too good.  The better one is the Japanese meal set.  Not because of its a nice one, but just I can get some rice and a grilled fish.  It's quite uncommon that I would skip bread for breakfast.

Barraca Ristorante, Canggu, Bali

The shop was run by a passionate Italian who made this place so much fun with lots of interesting decorations.  With a view to a rice field in the front, you would simply find yourself in a village hut.
The owner came to greet each customer, making the place very warm and hearty.  Besides, he was testing some food made by his chefs and explained what went wrong.  As when it was getting to the rush hour, he picked up a book and read.  Later on, I found out some handwriting on the blackboard on how he discouraged from going on social forums.
Took a salad of your own choices.  So I ticked beetroot, lettuce, spinach, mushroom and cashew nuts.  If the veggies were chilled, this salad could be perfect but still not bad to me.  The parma ham pizza made up for the minor of the salad though.  The panna cotta was good too but just the nutella sauce was a bit too common.

Gypsy restaurant, Canggu, Bali

This place is the best I have ever been, but just a bit far that I somehow didn't give it a return but then went to Betelnut which got me a serious flu plus a "phone" cashier.
Got a beetroot carrot juice and an espresso peanut smoothie.  The former was a perfect match and good to get you appetite for the meal.  The latter was a bit heavy but expected.
Got some sourdough bread, grilled veggie, grilled red snapper and a pork chop.  The snapper was very fresh and yet a big chunk of fish filet on a bed of red rice and red cabbage salad.  The pork chop was tender and juicy and yet not too heavily seasoned.  If the ingredients are fresh enough, there is no need to put heavy seasoning.  Besides the food quality, service is superb.  What a big contrast to Betelnut.

A wrong return to this restaurant Betelnut, Canggu, Bali

I usually don't go after those forum rating for restaurants' choices except that in some situation those restaurants on the forums aren't too far from where I stay, I'd give it a try.  This restaurant is an example.  It's ranked at no. 4 in the forum in the Canggu area (with 180 rated restaurants).
Got a young (and very big) coconut at just US$1.5, a buffalo wing, a local curry, a salad and a wrap.  All the dishes are quite nice though a bit heavily seasoned.  So we had a second return, but this return wasn't pleasant at all.  As when I noticed the waiter got a serious flu with his frequently swiping his nose's fluid and then drying on anything he touched, I was hesitant if I should leave.  I made a wrong decision - stay.  So I got a serious flu with congested nose and sore throat....  What's more, when I was paying at the cashier, the lady was so much into her phone without caring her hand dropping the money notes I gave her but then blamed me I didn't pay enough, until I have repeatedly told her where she dropped the money.  If she was in some apologetic gesture, I wouldn't mind it but she appeared to be nothing wrong with her but continuously played her phone.
