Leaving J Resort Kuda Rah, Maldives

Another issue with this resort is that they employ a "hea"  (laid back) speed donhi (Maldivian boat) for the transfer to the domestic airport.  So if it's about 20-30km, the boat ride would take an hour, vs. 10-15 speed boat ride.  Then when the sea was quite rough, it would be quite rocking.
Another unnecessary thing for the resort to send their guests 2 hours before the flight, which isn't practical because all the resorts sent their guests to the airport at the same time, resulting in a long line for the check-in.  Supposed they should arrange a better timing to diverse the guests' flow.  Yet, the airport is so small that it only takes 20 minutes for all the passengers to get on the plane.  So 1 hour is good enough.  That day was in a double bad luck - an hour flight delay, causing us to wait for 3 hours at that tiny domestic airport.  So the kiosk (Cafe 27) in that airport had quite some good business.

If...., J Resort Kuda Rah

If they could have cleaned the beach.  If they could have maintained the barrier to protect the coral.  If they could have had a better marketing.  If they could have had their staff in their own roles.  If they could have cared about their career.

Still water, J Resort Kuda Rah

This beach pool suite is a kind of waste when it's under such a lousy management.  Supposed the pool should have a cover on it.  The stagnant water is a good bed for mosquitoes.  Ended up the resort needs to spray that heavy mosquito repellent thrice a day.  The first time I'd see this thrice a day.  Usually most resorts would have it once every 2 to 3 days.  Nonetheless, there are still quite many mosquitoes.

The beach and the surrounding, J Resort Kuda Rah, Maldives

This beach and the surrounding haven't been maintained well.  See all those garbage in the sea around it.  Because of this, there aren't as many corals as those of the other resorts.  The beach is just a bed of some rocks and rough sand.  Really much to see.

The swimming pool, J Resort Kuda Rah, Maldives

The better thing about this resort is this swimming pool - having a nice panoramic view with Vakarufalhi resort on the right.  However, we found out the resort entertained some outside guests for using the pool, as it's quite near to another island having some 2-3 star budget inns.

A scene of the 60's, at J Resort Kuda Rah

I saw the senior watching the staff moving the rocks to build the shelter.  Those staff are from the housekeeping, kitchen and restaurant.  They aren't supposed to do this job.  Besides, it should be done by a professional company which would employ a boat to build this.  The big wave would just push the rocks away easily the next day.  This is very absurd of the management.  See how bossy of that guy on the left.

Set meal, J Resort Kuda Rah

After the business group left, there were only 4 guests in the whole resort.  So the restaurant decided to serve a set meal (at their choice).  They made it like a mini-buffet on the table - good for 6 people.  Anyway, it's much better than the buffet as they were freshly cooked.

The few and only, at breakfast in J Resort Kuda Rah, Maldives

On the first day, we got a breakfast buffet for about 15 people (6 guests and 9 are the business parties about the buy and sell of the resort).  After the 9 business parties left and the other 2 guests left, we didn't see this buffet anymore, which is even better to me.  This can be an interesting scene for a buffet serving 15 people but yet almost we couldn't see anyone.

Water Villa, J Resort Kuda Rah, Maldives

At first the room looks very nice and spacious, the more we find out, the worse it can be.  Found out the resort is on sale and there was a group of buyers in the first 2 days of my stay.  Then another 3-4 guests.  In one night only 2 guests, i.e. us.  I then think of a very famous resort in Maldives called The One and Only but it means about the resort.  This time it means the guests (with this resort).
The room itself is not bad, having some quality furniture and bathroom stuff.  However, there isn't a tea/coffee in the room, no bathing gel/shampoo.  As I asked about it, the housekeeping felt very helpless by saying they ran out of it....  I didn't complain it right away because the management would relay that to the staff.  I'll for sure....

Arriving at J Resort Kuda Rah, South Ari Atoll, Maldives

The resort arranged a domestic flight and a dhoni (Maldivian boat) for the transfer, which it ends up about 2-3 hour journey time, as the resort doesn't have its own dock for seaplane.  I then wondered why they use a slow boat (dhoni) instead of a speed boat (which it may take just 20 min.), for an hour ride.  To be continued...
