Steak set dinner at Grill Kabuki Honten, Central World, BKK

I like the salad bar with the curry rice at this restaurant.  The hamburg steak or salmon seems to be second for this meal.

Costa Coffee, Siam Paragon, BKK

Though I still enjoy Starbucks pretty much among all the Coffee chains, it's always nice to see more foreign chains expanding more.  This way we will get to see a blooming market and so to diversify the market.  This one from England isn't the best (as I would prefer Pret-A-Manger), but it offers more variety of sandwich and pastry choices.

Back to mine - a classic Cantonese dinner with 喜臨門, Asoke, BKK

Though it's not a good way to cook with lard, I have to admit that we can still try it once in a while.  I like the way the lettuce being stir fried with lard.  The deep fried pigeon is not to be missed.  All the dishes are very classic and remind me of the 70's Hong Kong.  Now most of the meals are much too decorative or cooked in some hybrid way.

Sawasdee, Thai restaurant, Fishermen Village, Bophut, Samui, Thailand

There are lots of restaurants along the Bophut beach in this Fishermen Village.  Most of them offer seafood.  I am somewhat not interested in seafood which were once alive.  Frankly me and quite many Cantonese are spoiled with taking live seafood from the water tank and getting them cooked right after from the tank.  I'd prefer eating some simple food like fried rice and veggie or somtam.  This restaurant isn't good at all these but the environment is quite relaxing and not crowded.  Got a mixed veggie fried rice and it's not bad, and happy that it isn't salty.

Penthouse units, Infinity Residence, Samui, Thailand

There are about 50 units in this resort but more than half are vacant or not for daily rental.  Climbed up to the highest penthouse unit.  The view is superb though.

An unhappy stay, Duplex suite, Infinity Residence, Samui, Thailand

Got changed to this duplex suite that I am not happy with.  The previous suite I stayed has a problem of rats running on the ceiling ventilation system.  When I complained this to the manager, I got told that would be a cat.  I simply told him my family used to have rats in the house and also cats.  I could simply tell a cat from a rat.  Then I decided not to argue with him.  Besides, he claimed "no guests complained about a rat problem.  That means I was to speak something extraordinary.  Another unhappy thing is that when they said they upgraded me to an Elegance suite, which turned out to be 2 rooms next to the previous room I stayed.  What's the difference is that the whole unit got split into a 2 bed room suite on the same size, meaning the bed room and living room smaller.

Since they didn't show any sincerity in getting some compensation, I didn't feel like asking for anything further but reluctantly accept this suite.  Funny enough the front office emphasized the 2 bed room of this suite, but how can I make good use of this 2 bed rooms.  In fact it's a kind of waste and the bed room is much smaller than the previous one I stayed.  Most of all, the pool is much smaller.  I commented on this part to the manager, I got the answer "many guests do enjoy their stay".  So I seemed to have agreed with him on why I have a further complaint.  Anyway, from the first day of the power failure, they offered a one way trip to Fishermen Village (costing THB700) as a compensation, I really find it not so sincere.  Why not for a round trip.

After all, all the local Thai staff are very friendly and helpful, except the house manager.

The one and only restaurant, Infinity Residence, Samui, Thailand

There are quite many resorts often claiming themselves as a 5 star resort.  In addition to quality and services, facilities and no. of restaurants are the most important factors.  This resort has the one and only restaurant, no gym and no turn down service.  I would consider it as a 3 star plus.  If the one and only restaurant is so good that we wouldn't bother to go out.  The beef burger is the driest one I had.  The Pad Thai is on the reverse, the much too watery one.  The pizza is too greasy and salty and the dough isn't nice at all.  The Chef salad is only some onion and lettuce with heavy mayo.  So how could I not go out for some other decent food.  As for the breakfast, I put the picture of the breakfast of Centara Grand Mirage Pattaya, then I feel much better to get some fruit and bread.
