Nishimura Restaurant, Marco Polo Hong Kong hotel, TST, HK

The bowl of steamed rice plus udon of this lunch set reminded me of those I tried in Japan.  I couldn't eat udon much as it's quite difficult for me to digest but this udon is well worth taking it.  The soup was very aromatic with the udon aroma.  The steamed rice was of high selected quality.  These 2 simply got you forget about the high carbo.  The side dishes were also impressive and the steamed egg with some sea urchin.  That's how my grandma often asked me to cook at kid's time.  The grilled mackerel was so good to go with the steamed rice.

Shiawase Japanese restaurant, Harbour City, TST, HK

Chose a grilled chicken thigh set.  Supposed this shop is a premium restaurant which should observe a higher standard of serving order.  Somehow they served the main dish first and then asked if we minded the appetizers served after the main course.  My answer was "served it whenever it's ready".  Quite disappointed with the sea weed that it was soaked enough it was pretty dried and chewy and also smelly (a result of not having been rinsed well).  It was gross if it went with tomato.  The grilled chicken was a bit cooled down, probably because of their waiting for the appetizers.  The rice was quite mashy.  The soup was very salty.  The whole meal really contracted with their restaurant theme word "fortune".  I found it a reverse.

Nara Thai, Harbour City, TST, HK

The restaurant has 2 areas - one as Lady Nara and the other Nara Thai.  Quite a long line for Lady Nara because of its colourful dining setting.  I opted for Nara Thai for sure.
The menu is very different from its original Thai branch's.  There is only one choice of "boat" noodle - beef noodle.  When it was served on the table, it looked like the noodle casserole (鴻圖窩麵), with big beef balls, beef slices, liver, tendon, brisket and stomach...etc., lots of veggie and big chunk of rice noodle.   Also had the grilled chicken with somtam (papaya salad), minced pork stir fried with basil over rice and stir fried veggie.  The air-ventilation was much too strong to blow on the table that all the food got cooled down too fast.  It was quite disappointing to eat a cooled Thai boat noodle.

A bread shop by Saki Moto, Harbour City, TST, HK

Plain bread and rice have always been my most favourite food.  I was tempted to come to this place because it claimed to be a specialist in plain bread.  The menu showed a colourful variety of jam to go with the bread though I'm still much into plain bread.  However, the shop has a mandatory choice for you to select jam or butter for an extra price.  So it's about HK$50 for a slice of bread with jam or butter.  When it was served on the table, the presentation made it even nicer.  I tried a bit hard to cut off the bread in pieces though it was half-cut in 9 pieces.  I decided to pick it up in a napkin and took my bite.  Quite disappointed that it wasn't with any flour aroma.  It was bland bread, not plain bread.  The heavily sweetened jam wasn't appealing either.  I found their imported Manuka honey water pretty nice though.

Cafe Muji, Harbour City, TST, HK

This one might be the worst branch of Cafe Muji.  Tried their meal set for a hot and cold dish.  I made a mistake to get their grilled mackerel.  If it wasn't enough, and yet it was cooked a long time a few hours ago, it was very awful.  The beet root salad wasn't good either.  The only one I could eat was the sesame   roll.  It's better to get the quiche.  At least they just reheat it.

Dim Sum Bar, 點一龍, Harbour City, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon

This place is located next to the cinema of Harbour City and very close to China HK City.  Out of curiosity that it's run by Cafe Deco Group, I came here for a try, but all the food are not so impressive.  Besides, it's a much too overpriced.  The soup is about HK$48 (only a small bowl).  The dim sum is about HK$30-48.   That told why the shop wasn't crowded.
