Maruti coffee house, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan

One of my "to do" list in Japan is to visit some local cafe.  This one was very busy and so caught my eyes to go in for a coffee and a tart.  The water they used for making coffee is very refined making the coffee very delicate besides aromatic.   The peach and chocolate tarts are good too.  I'd definitely come back to this place for my future visit in Sapporo.

Visited 2 ramen shops, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan

There are quite many shops, especially the local ones, that they don't need an English name.  I ran into the below 2 ramen shops and got curious due to the crowd.  These 2 are both very nice.  Thick broth and noodle in perfect texture.  On my taste preference, I like the latter one which is less salty but aromatic with the right amount of cha siu (Japanese BBQ pork).

Yuki Terrace, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan

The snow festival also brought some very nice visual effect in the sky.  It caught up my attention to follow the light beams and there we found it.

Sapporo historical information centre, Odori Park West, Hokkaido, Japan

When I stepped into this place, I felt like I was reading the history of how the Nanjing Treaty and many other treaties were drafted and signed.

Snow sculpture, Odori Park west, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan

On the west side of Odori Park, there was a showcase (or competition) for snow sculpture made by various places, from Australia, USA, Thailand...etc.  Of course, it's very apparent to check which one is made by Thailand (Tuk Tuk).

銀鱗北海道料理, Stella Place, Sapporo train station, Hokkaido, Japan

It's always very nice to check out some old places I like, on return visits.  This place is one of those.  Their sashimi never disappoints me!

A spoiled tranquil Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan

If not necessary, I wouldn't prefer going to places during festivals.  The crowd, the noise, the view being blocked would just spoil my mood for taking photos.  Some of the below photos are much of sub-standard - either hand-shake, out-of-focus or any possible mistakes.

Snow path of lights up, old train track, Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan

On the middle level of this city Otaru, where the old train track is, there was a nice alley (filled with heavy snow) of snow decorations.  It seems because of the main city Sapporo having the snow festival, the neighbouring towns would have the similar snow fair.  The last photo shows how it is in the summer time.
