Maek Jeok Korean restaurant, Wanchai, Hk

Tried their lunch set for a ginseng chicken soup and beef soup.  A bit surprised with the quality chicken they chose.  The appetitzers were very authentic and refilled upon request.  The steamed rice with dried seaweed was aromatic and nice to go with the soup.  Will come back and try their other dishes!

淅江軒 (Zhe Jiang Heen), Wanchai, HK

Got told about this restaurant for its authentic Shanghai cuisine.  So I ordered some typical Shanghai food.  The most interesting part was that they served the veggie rice right after my order (almost in a few seconds). It made me feel I was having a lunch in a canteen.  When I touched the bowl, it was quite cool and the rice was luke warm (about 30 degree celsius).  It was quite awful to eat some rice like left over.  The appertizers didn't surprise me either.  The tofu soup was a bit better though.  The "lion head" (meat balls casserole) was disappointing too as it wasn't aromatic with the pork flavour but just in heavy gravy.  Stewed pork with preserved veggie was at average.  The dim sum was luke warm.

強記美食 (Keung Kee local food), Wanchai, HK

Brought quite many friends to this street stall on Marsh Road (Wanchai).  It's also a favourite shop of my good old friend.  She would have been so happy to see this shop having an air-conditioning bigger one.
Talked to the owner and he said the old place's rent was rocket high at around HK$70k for just about 100 square feet place.  So he decided to choose this new shop at a justified rent.  The shop is just around the corner on Lockhart Road.

Deluxe studio, Apartment Kapok, HK

Gradually this serviced apartments have bought out all the units of one of the buildings of Causeway Centre. Visited this newly renovated unit on a high floor.  There came a strong plastic odour when we walked in the unit.  The layout was quite nice with a walk-in closet and a fully equipped kitchen with washer.  The monthly rent is about HK$20k.

蘇浙匯(Jardin de Jade), Wanchai, HK

Came in this place because all th other restaurants were very full.  Supposed this one should be the top-listed.  The waiters were scanning what you wore.  A bit impolite but as there wasn't any other choice, I had to forget about it.  The food became a bit quite disappointing from what I tried a few years ago.  The better ones are the steam siu lon bao and the dessert black sesame sticky rice dumpling.

Mansons Lot, Wanchai, HK

There have been quite a lot of different cuisine restaurants in Wanchai west.  Tried this one in Shan Tou Street for a sandwich with salad lunch.  It's quite nice in the summer time for a meal like this.

Kin Kao, Wanchai, HK

The shop looks very Thai, so does the deco., setting but not the food, price nor services.  The Pad Thai was much too sweet and mashy.  The boat noodle was a bit strange with coconut flavour.  The dishes were around HK$80.  In considering the deco., small portion and poor service, it's over-priced.

Sun Thai Restaurant, Wanchai, HK

Seen this shop growing up from an upstairs restaurant on Lockhart Road to a 3 storey restaurant on Johnston Road vicinity.  It might not be the best but it's good to try some comfort Thai food if you are around that area, especially for a nice table setting.  Feel quite warm from hearing the waitresses talking in Thai.

Bake House, Wanchai, HK

This shop has been the talk of town with long queue for its croissant.  Waited for half an hour for a dine-in, and ordered their signature breakfast.  In general, all were very nice except the sourdough bread that it lacked some chewy tangy texture.  I didn't take it all though I like bread much because quite some heavy olive oil was put on it.  Noticed they served house-made lemonade.  A bit disappointed that it was served in a  small glass with lots of iced cubes and yet it was just 2/3rd full.  I guess that was about 100ml lemonade on ice.  Their signature croissant was much disappointing as I found the butter not evenly spread inside.  They made it in such a rush to cater for the queue.  Perhaps this is another example of the crowd killing the shop.  After all, I wouldn't go back as we had to share the table and yet the table setting was too packed.
