Butahage Hokkaido, Quarry Bay, HK

Was glad when this one arrived last year and tried it several times which were very comforting.  However, at this latest visit, it wasn't the same.  The pork was much too seasoned and a bit dried out.

Cafe Siam, Quarry Bay, HK

Tried a lunch set with a Som tam and Pad Thai with a butterfly pea drink at HK$168.  The Pad Thai was quite nice but the prawns were a bit too soda-marinated.  After all, the whole meal was pleasant in a good Thai reminiscence.

Kin, Food court, Taikoo Place, HK

It has taken a year for this big food court to open its door in the central area of Tai Koo Place, replacing the old Chinese restaurant run by Hoi Choy group.  Apparently Swire property management has been upgrading its office and retail premises.
Tried quite a number of dishes at Kin.  Interesting there are not many Thai dishes as I expected from their symbolic Thai name "Kin" (as Eat).  Couldn't find any Pad Thai or Som Tam.  Instead, there are quite many choices of Korean, Malay and Singaporean food.  I tried their Bah Kut Teh (spare rib soup), stir fried Quew Tiey, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, roasted pork on rice, watermelon tomato salad....etc.  The portion is a bit smaller but good for you to try a bit more.

East Residence, Taikoo Place, HK

1. The bed is quite awkward to be right next to the door entrance.  The deco. and furniture looks pretty premium but after I tried them, they weren't too practical.  Too low-lying and yet the couch having the steel frame bottom I could sit right on such hard frame.  The large coffee table was much in the way.  The kitchen is installed with all built-in appliances.  Tried their microwave-grill stove and that's the only thing I find it useful.  It's not really nice to have open kitchen like that, when you cook something which can get your room with that odour for a day or 2.  The view is a 360 office view.  It's really not nice to have the bathroom door facing the office building.  So you have to close the curtain most of the time.  Was given 2 tiny shampoo and cleansing bars.  So forget it!

Public, Island East, Tai Koo Place, HK

This self-serviced cafeteria is on the 37/F of Island East, serving salad, sandwich, Asian fusion food and coffee.  If you prefer a cozy meal, there is also a full service restaurant.  I chose a bibimbap and a mocha.  The bibimbap wasn't too appealing but good to have lots of veggie.  The view and coffee made up for the meal.

The legacy, Quarry Bay, HK

This Zung Fu factory building used to be iconic landmark of Quarry Bay and a popular stop for mini-bus.  When Tai Koo Place is mordernizing this vicinity, this big building will soon be gone.  Noticed almost all the tenants have left.

Deluxe studio, Kornhill Apartment, HK

This room is smaller than the others, but a bit newer.  We could see some furniture from ikea.

Kornhill Apartment, Tai Koo, HK

Out of curiosity, I came to check out this serviced apartment.  The sales agent was very courteous to show me various units.  This one is a big studio of 500 sq. feet at HK$19,000 monthly.  Very spacious but a bit run down.  Noticed the air-conditioning having some mould.

Hollywood Cafe, Quarry Bay, HK

The name of this place doesn't mean they serve more western food.  Instead, their Cantonese stir fried and steamed dishes were quite impressive.  Very aromatic and what we called "wok fire (high heat quick stir frying)".  Their fisherman style steamed pork patty shouldn't be missed either.
