The lobby, DoubleTree by Hilton, Sukhumvit, BKK

Though the main entrance of this hotel is on ski 26, it has a walk way to connect to Hilton Suk soi 24 (just opposite to Emporium - and I recall that was still a construction site next to Oakwood soi 24 when we stayed there 3 years ago).  This hotel kept some very old stuff from its ex-premises or we can have the boring term - collective retro. memory.

Level 7, Mosaic (the pool bar), the swimming pool, the gym, DoubleTree by Hilton Sukhumvit

The colour and design of the level 7 for the active facilities are quite interesting - a bit nostalgic and trendy.  It's quite relaxing to spend a lazy morning after breakfast at the pool lounging area.

Standard room, DoubleTree by Hilton, Sukhumvit, BKK

At the time of check-in, the guests would be given a signature cookie of DoubleTree.  Very family like its name.  The room is quite nice, clean and tidy.  The service is good too, from housekeeping, front desk to restaurants.  This hotel will be one of my preferred choices.

Business class, HKG-BKK, Sri Lankan Airway

Air Lanka has bargain offer on its business class at just HK$1,900 (even much cheaper than CX/TG discounted restricted y class).  Their service is very nice and I can tell the difference of Sri Lankan from its neighbouring countries.  Air Lanka has a new flat bed business class on its A330 air crafts.  The seat is even more spacious than most other airlines' business class.  What I prefer is their seat can move forward to get closer to the TV display.  On their welcome drink, I got their mango lassi - pretty nice.  As for the meal, the first course is an eggplant salad, main course - I chose a slow cooked beef brisket in curry with multi-grain rice.  Both courses are very nice.  Then I chose a fruit salad and a lemon tart to complete the meal.  As for their tea, certainly Ceylon tea is highly recommended.

A stormy day, Macau

Even though the super typhoon Haiyan (which devastated the mid-Philippines) was so far away with her landfall at Vietnam, the wide outer skirt of its stormy weather rocked Macau and HK.  On the ferry ride, the sea was so rough that almost half of the passengers got motion sickness.

西灣安記, Sai Wan On Kee, Macau

There are shops which often thinks whatever they cook, people like because of their name.  Yes, there are some people like that who often check on guides.  My local Macau friends brought me to this restaurant quite many years ago (and in fact to the famous pork chops buns), and asked me if I like it.  I told them frankly "no I don't consider them as good, from my personal cooking experience.".  Then they agreed to the same and wondered why some people think the food in Macau is attractive.  So this one is really below standard.  Even their signature 沙丹豬扒意 and 摩囉雞飯 were quite disappointing.  Heavy cornstarch sauce and served in luke warm.
