Brought many friends to the ex-restaurant (Karma Kamet the Diner) of this place. So much memory of it. Though it has changed its name, the deco. was almost the same. The food and service were even better.

Skye, French restaurant, Hotel Park Lane by Pullman, Causeway Bay, HK
This French restaurant served a 3 course lunch set at around HK$400. I chose a Nicoise salad, beef filet and a fruit salad with sorbet. I couldn't say the salad is a salad. As seen, there were 2 tiny veggie on 4 tiny tuna slices with capers and sauce. The main course was also very small. The dessert wasn't too big as I had a very close up to take the photo. All the dishes weren't bad though. My business friends told me this is a fine dining and Michelin graded....etc. Once again, I told them my dining experiences over the years in various places in Southern France and Paris, from local to high end restaurants that I really don't consider fine dining means "tiny". This kind of so-called fine dining is just a HK-style fine dining.

Bake House, Wanchai, HK
This shop has been the talk of town with long queue for its croissant. Waited for half an hour for a dine-in, and ordered their signature breakfast. In general, all were very nice except the sourdough bread that it lacked some chewy tangy texture. I didn't take it all though I like bread much because quite some heavy olive oil was put on it. Noticed they served house-made lemonade. A bit disappointed that it was served in a small glass with lots of iced cubes and yet it was just 2/3rd full. I guess that was about 100ml lemonade on ice. Their signature croissant was much disappointing as I found the butter not evenly spread inside. They made it in such a rush to cater for the queue. Perhaps this is another example of the crowd killing the shop. After all, I wouldn't go back as we had to share the table and yet the table setting was too packed.

GC (Gontran Cherrier) Cafe, K11 Musea, HK
Ordered a seared tuna salad, a chicken portobello mushroom sandwich and a berry smoothie. The salad was in quite heavy seasoned dressing and the tuna was also in heavy salt sprinkle. The sandwich was a bit better though.

Fleur de Sel, French crepe restaurant, Causeway Bay, HK
Interesting some hurry to leave but on the other way round some get in town. I've seen a growing no. of westerners moving into HK. Restaurants can tell.
I'm delighted to find this place as the name reminded me of the sea salt I bought from Cannes. The glass mat is also my fond memory of Cote d'Azur. Furthermore, I'd like the big poster - imagine how the restaurant's owner took a bicycle ride from France to HK. Very French style! Bon appetite. The crepe tasted even better that I decided to get one more for dessert. Forget about the calorie.

Agnes b. Cafe, K11 Tsimshatsui, HK
There have been times I have been asked what I would like for a birthday meal. I often replied a meal at food court, a plain bread or pound cake. Repeatedly I got the answer "eat better". In order not to upset my friends, I would then replied "yes". So whenever possible, I'd make my own wishes by ordering a slice of pound cake, or a plain toast, or bowl of plain rice. This time I had this cranberry walnut pound cake. Very comforting.

Briketenia, Harbour North, HK
The meal set reminded me of the portion size I tried in France. I am a big puzzled with some claim, especially from HK that portion size of French cuisine is tiny. All the dishes were pretty good, especially with a nice harbour view in North Point.

Le Bistro Winebeast, Wanchai, HK
Originally visited a restaurant next to this place but that one wasn't good for seating. No harm to try this one as it looks quite French authentic. The house manager came to ask if we need help about their menu. My friend was courteous to say so. I expected he could have some recommendations rather than just direct translation. The place claimed to be a fine dining restaurant but in some details I don't agree to it, especially the dinner cost about HK$500. The butter was in the fridge for a long time and only one tiny plate was served and yet the bread was in a portion for 2. They didn't have Evian or other French brand's bottled water. The salad wasn't quite appealing as I found quite some rusty veggie in it. I had a grilled tuna. It was luke warm and it was quite a turn off for seafood being served in luke warm. Perhaps they spent much time on the presentation and garnishing. Service wasn't good either as the manager interrupted quite rudely when I was ordering the dishes with the waitress. Perhaps this place is good for food with wine pairing.

Rise Kitchen, Tseung Kwan O, HK
There are quite a number of cozy restaurants in the sea front area. The pastry aroma drove my attention to try this shop. So we tried their iced mocha and a strawberry pie. Had a bite of the pie and a sip of the mocha. That reminded me of Paul BKK.
