2 bedroom suite, Reethi Faru Maldives

Had quite some minor issues from the pickup arrangement at the airport to the arrival of the resort.  What's more, we didn't get informed about their in-house corporate video shooting when we were in the swimming pool.  It was really annoying for a flying drone staying right in front of you over a minute when we weren't aware of getting shot.  When we raised the issue to the pool staff, no one yet was to inform about the corporate video shooting, not even the front office being aware of.  Ended up the front office manager came to apologize and offered a night to upgrade to their so-called presidential suite.  However, this suite can't be called as presidential suite.  It's apparently a 2 bedroom suite.  It's just one word - big.  The ironic part is the living room still having the same standard room furniture, and only one air-conditioning system.  There is a jacuzzi outside the sundeck.  As it's named as presidential suite, there had to be at least a swimming pool instead.  It's not worth paying over US$1,200 net a night for this.

Vakaru restaurant, Reethi Faru Maldives

Most of the Maldives resort have their full board meals served in the same restaurant.  This one is no exception.  Noticed the other 2 restaurants are very empty, and it's quite the similar situation with the other resorts.  Wonder why they don't diverse the customers, nor make their guests more impressed with their dining options.  Though the food of this restaurant is not impressive at all, their staff's services made it up and even some came to greet us on the last meal we took.

Another unique thing with this resort is this little friend - lizard.  Saw them very often every other few steps.

The paintings, in Reethi Faru resort, Maldives

I enjoy browsing the paintings posted almost everywhere in the resort, from the rooms, swimming pool, front office to restaurants.  All the various paintings told the typical island life of Maldives.  All about fishermen's way of living.  Perhaps a reflection of my childhood.  I see my grand ma fixing the fish net, and I see my mother rowing a sampan, and I see the harvest return of all those fishing junks bringing a promised and cheerful fortune for families....

The resident - sea urchin, at Reethi Faru resort, Maldives

There are often some symbolic thing for the resort of Maldives.  This time it's sea urchin.  I have seen a large number of sea urchins here.  I recall how my father taught me how to open sea urchin and how my grand ma forced me to eat this.  I didn't like seafood much when I was a kid.  Couldn't imagine this can be so expensive these days.

Water Villa, Reethi Faru resort, Baa Atoll, Maldives

The expansion of the Male Airport means the corresponding growth of its tourist industry.  Over the past 5 years, I have seen lots of local and international chain resorts have been growing rapidly.  This Reethi new resort was just opened half year ago, and situated in Raa Atoll, north west of Male city, about 1km north of Dhigali resort.  The room is quite cozy with a nice open shower, indoor shower and a bath tub.  The sun deck is separated into 2 levels with a lower one for an unblocked ocean view.
