Taling Pling, Suk 34, Bangkok

The restaurant is inside the soi 34 Sukhumvit Road, close to Thong Lor BTS in about 8-10 minute walk.  Worth the walk as the restaurant is in a very nice gardening.  Food tastes even better in this ambience.

Cafe Siam, Quarry Bay, HK

Tried a lunch set with a Som tam and Pad Thai with a butterfly pea drink at HK$168.  The Pad Thai was quite nice but the prawns were a bit too soda-marinated.  After all, the whole meal was pleasant in a good Thai reminiscence.

Mini Bangkok Thai Food Station, Causeway Bay, HK

Found some good somtam from this shop.  We also had stir fried seafood rice noodle, beef boat noodle with complimentary tom yam soup and longan juice.  The set was just in the range from HK$68-88 and it's quite a large portion.  Fresh seafood and the tom yam soup was quite impressive.

Kin Kao, Wanchai, HK

The shop looks very Thai, so does the deco., setting but not the food, price nor services.  The Pad Thai was much too sweet and mashy.  The boat noodle was a bit strange with coconut flavour.  The dishes were around HK$80.  In considering the deco., small portion and poor service, it's over-priced.

Sun Thai Restaurant, Wanchai, HK

Seen this shop growing up from an upstairs restaurant on Lockhart Road to a 3 storey restaurant on Johnston Road vicinity.  It might not be the best but it's good to try some comfort Thai food if you are around that area, especially for a nice table setting.  Feel quite warm from hearing the waitresses talking in Thai.

Siam Garden Thai restaurant, North Point, HK

In entering this restaurant, the side kitchen caught my eyes.  For those who have been to Thailand often, this setting isn't a stranger.  When the Pad Thai was served, the plate and the presentation were also very Thai.  The pig's knuckle on rice wasn't quite Thai though it wasn't too bad.

Nara Thai, Harbour City, TST, HK

The restaurant has 2 areas - one as Lady Nara and the other Nara Thai.  Quite a long line for Lady Nara because of its colourful dining setting.  I opted for Nara Thai for sure.
The menu is very different from its original Thai branch's.  There is only one choice of "boat" noodle - beef noodle.  When it was served on the table, it looked like the noodle casserole (鴻圖窩麵), with big beef balls, beef slices, liver, tendon, brisket and stomach...etc., lots of veggie and big chunk of rice noodle.   Also had the grilled chicken with somtam (papaya salad), minced pork stir fried with basil over rice and stir fried veggie.  The air-ventilation was much too strong to blow on the table that all the food got cooled down too fast.  It was quite disappointing to eat a cooled Thai boat noodle.

Shek O Thai restaurant, HK

Haven't been to Shek O for quite many years.  This time I noticed quite many Thais settled down here.  Apparently there are quite some Thai restaurants along the beach area.  I was also very surprised the Pad Thai and Pad Se Er could be as authentic as thsoe I tried in Thailand.  The stir fried morning glory was a plus.  A lunch set with a soda is about HK$75 and the veggie about 50.  It's also nice to have a lunch with some fresh air from the sea.  Reminded me of some meals I tried in Cape Panwa (Phuket).

Sun's Bazaar, Pacific Place, HK

Have seen some instant noodle products under the brand of Kiki (my favourite restaurant in Taipei) in groceries.  This time I noticed this restaurant served a wide range of famous dishes from Kiki, such as hot chili chive black beans minced pork (蒼蠅頭) and drunken chicken.  The restaurant also served some Indochinese cuisine from Vietnam, Thai, Malay to Singaporean....
