Eat All Thai, Groove, Central World BKK

If we weren't told about the background of this restaurant, I would simply pass it without regret because the restaurant's name and deco. look not so convincing.  As when the dishes were served, the aroma of the crab meat omelette, deep fried crab cake, the deep fried split chicken wings really stimulate anyone's appetite.  We made a mistake though for ordering all the food at one time and some dishes should be taken when hot or warm.  Must go for another try!

Paul, Central Embassy, BKK

Came here for a tea break and the restaurant was pretty empty.  Tried their chicken in sesame baguette and an almond pastry and completed with an iced mocha.  The baguette was very crispy and aromatic with sesame.  Paul was quite thoughtful of putting a side salad to go with the baguette.  This place really saves my trip to France.

Up Rama 3 community mall, BKK

Happy to see this community mall arrive and situated at the intersection of Rama 3 and Narathiwas road.  There are not many shops.  The noticeable ones are EST 33 and Boon Tong Kee.  The color tune reminds me of the China town of Singapore though.

Boon Tong Kee 文東記 Chicken rice shop, the Up Rama 3 community mall, BKK

If I didn't visit the original shop in Singapore, I would wonder how come this one could be so famous in Singapore.  This branch simply destroy the whole image of Boon Tong Kee.  The chicken was too dried out and yet too mashy in texture.  The other dishes failed too - the veggie soaked in thousand year egg and salty duck egg (photo 6) is the worst I have ever tried.  They made a funny sauce in it.  The only better one is the soup of the day, not the best but better than the chicken and the veggie.

Din Tai Fung, Central Embassy, BKK

Even though this restaurant has been on the last on my choice list, I wouldn't mind try it again every other 2-3 years.  From its headquarters in Yong Kang Street of Taipei city, Chung Hsiao E. Rd., HK, until this one in Central Embassy.  It still can't convince me that it is a quality restaurant though it's not too bad.  In terms of quality and portion, all the dishes are a bit overpriced.  I had a beef noodle soup.  Interesting that it looks quite heavy in taste but what I found out it's the color and seasoning.  The noodle texture isn't too good either.

Mandarin Oriental cake shop and cafe, Emporium BKK

Happy to see the restaurants are moving around and taking their new locations on the top floor of Emporium.  MO takes the place of the Piri chicken restaurant, with a better view to the hall of Emporium.  Though some said MO's cherry pie isn't much like a pie, I like it as it is in a very classic recipe that it's not about the butter crust aroma and the super sweet cherry.  Their iced mocha is still the best and so far only the one at Paul Central Embassy can be compared in BKK.

Maisen, Emportier, BKK

Got told again this shop was quite famous in Tokyo and the original shop is in my favourite place Omote Sando.  I must have passed by it several times but perhaps deep fried pork chop isn't my choice whenever I am in Tokyo.
Back to this new branch, I am still somewhat not impressed with their deep fried pork chop and yet they didn't know how to cook rice.  Often very mashy and not in a proper portion.  As I saw the others poured the heavy sauce on it, I realised I missed this point of how people look upon the sauce rather than the pork chop and rice.  Nonetheless, the rice shouldn't be much below standard.
