This restaurant reminded me of the very old time I visited their branch in Discovery Center of Bangkok.  That was quite pleasant that I re-visited that branch quite often.  Somehow I haven't been to any Outback for years.  Out of the blue, I came to this branch for a lunch set.  Their house signature brown sugar bread was served right after you ordered your meal.  In general, the mains (grilled fish filet and pork chop) were quite nice.  I'd prefer their spacious seating area in quite good social distancing.  This point was my priority to choose a restaurant these days.

It's quite surprising to see almost every outlet of this chain restaurant is often with a long line.  The long line made me stop from visiting this place for years.  This time I found a branch in the hidden corner of the basement of Kowloon hotel that I didn't have to wait.  Ordered their signature bento set.  The selected food quality and the big portion told why it's so popular.

Malay restaurants keep growing in town.  This chain restaurant expanded its branch to Tsimshatsui.  Came in  for their signature spare rib soup.  The soup base was a bit too sweet and the strong air-con. made the soup cool down too fast that the aroma was lost.  Quite a turn-off.  The bean sprout was with too much pepper.  Overall, it's quite an expensive (HK$130 for a spare rib soup and 58 for a bean sprouts) in considering the squeezed table setting.

 

The Fifth Element (靜岡浜松), The One, TST, HK

Had a very nice dinner a few weeks ago.  Came back here for a lunch set (with a potato salad and an onion soup).  This place simply reminds me of those western cafes of Hirafu (Niseko) in Hokkaido.  The potato salad tasted like what I used to make.  The onion soup was good to go with the salad before the main - grilled chicken don.  This time I asked for less sauce so that I could taste the original rice flavour.

 

Chuk Yuen restaurant (竹園海鮮酒家), Tsimshatsui, Kowloon, HK

Haven't been to this restaurant for years.  Came back for a try.  Quite classic to see some hot towels, peanuts and chili sauce served on the table.  So I tried some classic dishes.  The stir fried beef slices was good but too bad the choy sum was a bit rotten (as you could see the empty stem inside).  The bitter guard omelette and the spare ribs in sweet vinegar sauce were average.  Perhaps that would be for another term of years I won't be back.

The restaurants of this hotel have been quite a talk of the town.  Tried a 4 course dinner from Green on the ground floor.  Choose a smoked salmon salad, beef goulash soup, beef tenderloin and apple tartin.  The dinner set came with free flow of wine or mocktail.  Got a pineapple guava drink but it's much too sweet.  The first 3 courses of the meal were quite impressive but the apple tartin was a bit disappointing that it's a bit too dried out.  Overall, it was still a very pleasant dinner set.

The room was quite comfy and quite much attention was put to the bathroom, but some of the design wasn't too user-friendly.  The walk-in shower made the floor mat much too wet from the shower splash.  There was a TV set on the bathtub, but set in a wrong position that you couldn't watch it clearly.  The bed mattress and the curtain made my sleep quite well.

Ton Ton Byoushi restaurant, TST, HK

Got a pretty good experience with their branch in North Point and so I visited this one when I dropped by Tsimshatsui.  It was in a back lane of Granville Rd.  Good that it wasn't crowded.  Ordered a pork don.  Some might not like it as the meat was quite lean in terms of Japanese don.  I'd rather like this one for healthy reason.  The dumpling was good too.  The set meal was just about HK$70-80.
