between Phang Nga and Trang

All along the Southern Thailand to the border of Malaysia, there are many scenic islands, stones, even trees in the middle of the sea.

King size bed

When chatting with my friend about some other misleading info. given by Pimalai, here is one more interesting thing. On their web page, they claimed they use 7 feet king size bed but it turned out 2 single bed being put together. Note the bed stand is also for single bed use. That means they are misleading customers. I really don't know why the renowned travel magazine named this resort for an award. Those people should look into the details. It's not a single point. Lots of discrepancies.

Sky and sea of Koh Lanta

Spent 10 minutes to take this photo with my Panasonic FT1. This is the scene I stood in the swimming pool to enjoy the sky and water as one whole picture.

Monkey on the wall?

Took the boat of Pimalai and saw this small island. Check and see if you see a monkey's head.

video - Koh Lanta and Pimalai

little friends in Koh Lanta

Monkeys, lizards, birds, butterflies, worms, scorpions and many many bugs can be found here. Some of them are very timid for a photo. Be ready to get some unavoidable bites. So pack some ointments for this as well as some allergy medicine as your body may not be adapted to some pollens in places where you were not born.

3. This one was crushed by a golf cart. Sorry scorpion buddy. Wish you rest in peace and be anything you wanna be.

The restaurant, Baan Lanta Resort & Spa, Lanta Island

Baan Lanta is about 10 minutes walking from Pimalai. Again, the local people there are very nice. I would prefer this one to Same Same but Different and both are at the similar prices.

1. Deep fried prawn cakes US$1.5. I can say this is the most impressive prawn cakes I have ever tried. They put some parsley, celery and water chestnut besides prawn and pork. So its' not only juicy inside but the blast of the nice aroma of parsley and celery which go very well with the flavour of prawn. Besides, they use fresh oil for deep frying. Also, nice deep frying. Dry and crispy on the outside but so juicy inside. 2. Tomato soup US$1. A bit salty but considering it's a tropical hot place, it's ok as people sweat a lot.

3. Pad thai US$2. Quite nice and I cleaned the plate. 4. Stir fried chicken US$2.5. This one is at average.

5. Stir fried noodle with pork. US$2. Pretty good. 6. the restaurant.

Same Same But Different, Lanta Island

Read some comments on the guests highly recommending this restaurant which is just next to Pimalai resort. Though the food is so so, the local people are very friendly.

1/2 the place is very local.

3. the entrance. 4. Stir fried noodle with pork US$2.5. At average and can't complain considering the cheap price.

5. Fried rice with beef US$2.5. Also at average and I had to leave all the beef on the plate. So hard to chew. 6. Interesting to see this kind of baby cabbage and it's US$2. Very sweet and fresh.
7. Entrance on the road.

Only me and Pimalai

Today the whole resort is very tranquil. It was already very quiet over the past few days, and today there were only one pool villa which has light - it's the one I am staying - the third on the first row. There are 60 pool villas and now only one villa has been occupied. If SQ wasn't full for flight to Maldives, and if the travel magazines haven't advertised this resort massively, and if we feel a bit too much about going to Phuket, we wouldn't get a chance of trying this resort. After all, this place is very beautiful and the local people are very friendly. Those have made up for the negative things.

Jimmy and Donald in Lanta island

Jimmy and Donald have been all the time with me on various trips but recently they have been very low key. So here they are in Pimalai resort to enjoy the place, the sun, the pool and some small friends. BTW, they are afraid of being kidnapped by some monkeys nearby.

Sun and rain, Lanta Island

1. Har Island.
2. Another resort on the hill slope.
3. Scattered shower.
4. Something heavy coming.

5. We are in it.

Seven Seas breakfast, Pimalai resort, Lanta Island

Let's take a look at this restaurant Seven Seas (which requires dress code at night time without air-conditioning at 27-30 degree depending if you are close to the lamp. BTW, bear with someone who smoke when you are showing respect in the way you are dressed up).

1. Quality restaurant as claimed by the GM of this resort serves some tea bags like these. 2. Pancakes are not done - see that batter fluid.

3. Cold cuts are quite nice. Bread pretty good too. 4. the table. Coffee is below average.

5. I still prefer cold cuts to other hot food (like siu ma). 6. Interesting omelette. Quite grey...mmh... eggs from a sad hen?
6. Yoghurt with museli and nuts. The nuts and dried fruits should be covered. It gets softened and the fruits gets more bio. from the flies.

Pool Villa, Pimalai Villas, Lanta Island

1. The view has made up for the disappointment on the management. 2. The weather is also very nice and I kind of prefer the scattered shower season in this area.

3. the pool is very big. 4. The villa is built on a steep hill slope and quite stunning.
5. Fish to the pool. 6. the pavillion - very relaxing.

7. view from right end to left. 8. from left to right.

9. view to the restaurant - the dress code "Seven Seas". 10. view back to the villa - on zooming.

11/12. night view.
