Baan Ice, Thonglor, BKK

There have been times I ran into something supernatural or spiritual every other few years.  Most of times it would happen out of the blue.  I don't suggest we make fun of it or run away from it.  Just simply admit it as a fact.  This time I saw a figure with its upper half body trying to stretch out of the wall of the bar table on the right side of the staircases on photo 2.  I didn't take any photo of that side after I noticed it.  Before going in this restaurant, I had a dizziness on the other side of the road.
This restaurant served some cuisine from Southern Thailand.  Ordered dishes like stir fried crab meat, sweet and sour chilli prawns with the local beans. Veggie stir fried with egg, glazed deep fried chicken, deep fried fish.  The prawns and the deep fried fish were quite good.  May go get a try at their Siam Paragon branch.

with Thung Kruen, 2013

6 years ago, I joined on blogging so as to share food and travel with friends.  Thung Kruen was one of the restaurants for review and happy moments' sharing.  6 years passed.  Blogging is fading.  Regardless of the situation, I am still keeping on with what I first started and felt like a commitment.  To make myself happy, I wouldn't care how low the posting may be seen 3-4 times.  Simply I am sharing things with friends.
Thung Kruen is not the best restaurant but in terms of price and the food quality, it is one of the preferred choices whenever we feel like a grilled chicken and stir fried dishes.

Pig's knuckle rice, soi 38 night stalls, Thonglor BKK

The third time I visited this place for a nice pig's knuckle rice.  Found out the portion is quite big.  So THB50/60 isn't expensive in this regard.

Mr. Jones Orphanage, soi 13 Thonglor, BKK

Finally we could get a table for this crowded shop.  It's quite fun to check around but the cakes and desserts were another story.  The cakes were either too chewy or dry or tangy.  The tea was very bland.  The better one were the avocado shake and iced mocha.  The chairs are good as a display.  So overall, this place should be a museum rather than a dessert shop.  After all, it's quite fun to go in and check around.

After You, next to you, up to you and....

These 2 shops are just opposite or next to the famous dessert shop After You on soi 13 Thonglor. Wonder if there will be even more ongoing around this area, as "Before You", "Follow You"..., or in the other way "After Me", "After Him", "After It".... Very derivatively creative.

Witch Pie Factory, Thong Lor, Sukhumvit BKK

Never thought that we could try some authentic British breakfast in Bangkok. There it is a British run restaurant serving a wide variety of pies. The decoration of the shop is also very British.

No more secret with the Secret Garden, Thonglor BKK

This shop is really "secret" inside the soi of Thonglor. Came here at close to 9pm. The shop already packed their cakes in the fridge and the staff were busy with their phone or the PCs in the shop for FB/MSN...etc. Our arrival at the shop apparently annoyed them though the shop is supposed to close at 10pm. So my friends picked up some cakes in a hurry from the drawer of the fridge. I somehow didn't pick any in such a spoiled mood of the staff showing a black face. What a disgrace of them to insult the Thai friendliness culture. Their smile would only show up in their phone or PC. Later on, they even turned off the light and air-con. as well as the men's room at 9:30pm. As I wanna ask the staff who was so intense with his FB to open the men's room, I got yelled for going to the ladies' room. Definitely I didn't as I need to obey the local law. Good for them and good for me to delete this shop on my dessert list! If you wanna go there, please FB them first for order or service.

Bon Chon Korean chicken shop, soi 13 Thonglor BKK

Got curious to try this one as it claimed to expand a lot of branches in the States. The shop is quite in a fast food shop deco., but the price is not fast shop standard. So we ordered some deep fried chicken, stir fried beef, kimchi dumpling and tofu salad. Most of the food taste like "Calbee (triple shot)" food - heavily seasoned. The only good thing about the crispy chicken is that they had the deep frying in 2 steps in order to have the heavy syrup to coat the chicken in the final deep frying. They kimchi dumpling is very hot but it's in the chili paste hot, not the fresh chili hot. The other 2 are average. If you like some heavily seasoned food, this is the choice definitely.
