When I noticed it claimed to be from HK as a modern bar and cafe, I was curious to give it a try. On the menu, I didn't find anything related to HK. Tried the stir fried veggie with parma ham, beef noodle soup and the deep fried chicken. The veggie was a bit too chewy and not so fresh. The chicken was pretty good though.

Clinton St. Bakery, Siam Paragon, BKK
Another delight from eatigo for 30-50% off for off hours. Tried their house signature pancake and the deep fried chicken with biscuit and coleslaw as well as their waffles. I'd highly recommend the pancake with banana and walnut. This combination goes so well with the pancake. No need to put the syrup.

Bangkok Art and Culture Centre
A friend of mine told me he wanna come to this place a few years ago, but that time it was closed. I still remember this place but somehow haven't been here until now. I didn't take photos inside except this one for the main hall. Feel like respecting not taking photos of someones' creations.

Fruit tomato salad, by The Grill Tokyo, BKK
There are some items on the menu which may not sound interesting, such as this one Tomato salad. As when I thought again why they put a "fruit tomato" and specified it, that aroused my curiosity to order it. The tomato was indeed very rich in tomato flavour like a fruit. Well deserving it's named "fruit tomato".

IHOP (International House of Pancakes), Siam Paragon BKK
It's quite difficult to tell the others about the difference of buttermilk pancakes and the Asian style pancakes if they often claim "crisy" outside only for the latter one. Though I am not into American food, I like the way it was made so hearty and comforting. IHOP was one of my favourite restaurants I visited in the States. So when I first noticed this in KL and Dubai, I felt like meeting a good old friend. When they opened in Siam Paragon, I was happier it was geting closer and more convenient. Photo 1: is their all day breakfast with steak cubes with fried onion, (original) hash brown, scrambled egg and their signature pan cake. We also ordered their other specialities like waffles and French toasts. On personal preference, I'd prefer waffles, but I'd still like their pancakes because of the good old memory.

Kang, noodle soup, Siam Center, BKK
Noticed the male chefs cooking in the open stall often look at their phones. When the noodle was served, I could feel it's just lukewarm. Then the shrimp and mantis shrimp were already a bit dried out due to its prolonged time after shell-off. The shrimp paste pork was disappointing too. This told expanding with more branches is quite risky.

A simple eating well, at Taling Pling, Siam Paragon BKK
This day I am glad that I could get a simple plain rice and 2 veggie. Over to another year, we have to think about eating simple as eating well. Likewise, travel simple as travel well. If we carry too heavy luggage, we wouldn't travel happily. So the main point for every aspect of our life is to do it simple.

A Christmas dinner at Jamie's Kitchen, BKK
I'm not much into festive season, nor do I feel like taking a specific meal to go with the season. This time my friends noticed there is a special set for Christmas - THB1,250++ (THB250 extra if choosing a beef filet). So we went for a dinner on Christmas eve. We chose a mushroom soup which is very good among the other starters. The prawn cocktails was somewhat disappointing as some very bland frozen prawns were used. I don't mind frozen prawns, but at least marinated in some seasoning or in a heavy cocktail sauce though I don't like it this way. The main - beef filet made up for the prawn cocktail. The sides (roasted veggie) were a plus. The cod fish was nice too. Another highlight was the parfait and the choco. tart.

A bowl of plain rice with 2 stalks of veggie, at Taling Pling, BKK
There were some scenes of some TV dramas which impressed me much. When we were served with a bowl of plain rice and some plain veggie in this Thai restaurant Taling Pling, the scene of Lisa Wong (in the famous TVB drama 京華春夢) told her husband's family that she would just need daily one bowl of plain rice plus 2 stalks of veggie for her and her baby. So she locked up herself and lived like that for years. I was laughing actually at how one bowl of rice plus 2 veggies can get her and her baby survive. Yet, she looked so radiant. Anyway, dramatic is dramatic. We were then more than happy to go for this dramatic meal in reality.

Three wheel trolley noodles, Siam Square, Bangkok
Siam Square has changed a lot over the past 10 years. Some shops gone and some shops landed. Went in this shop for something quick in between afternoon tea time and dinner. Tried a bowl of noodle soup and a herbal jelly. Both weren't bad though not the best.
Grilled eel on rice by the Grill Tokyo, Siam Paragon BKK
Over the past 10 years, I seldom took grilled eel rice in HK and BKK because I got quite frustrated with the quality of the so-called grilled eel which were just burnt by gas gun or boiled first and then slightly burnt and yet those aren't some bigger eel with a strong aroma of eel.
Finally we tried a real good one or genuine grilled eel rice from the Grill Tokyo. When you opened the box, the aroma filled all around, making you get a quick bite of it. So irresistible!

4F, My Kitchen, Siam Discovery, BKK
It's getting so boring for me to try this kind of touch screen menu, and also really not so useful. First, if the shops want to have this kind of touch screen menu order, simply don't think about some low grade devices that I really got mad at the touch screen. Second. should be more user-friendly with some easy icons for asking for the food in some preference like "less salty, sweet"...etc. Third, don't let the kids touch it as their parents may bear with 10 coke, 20 ice cream, 30 fried...etc.

Back to Paragon, The Grill Tokyo, Siam Paragon BKK
The shop was closed for a few months. From the last visit, the madam (looks like the person in charge) came to each table to express the inconvenience and reluctancy that the restaurant had to say goodbye. It has been renovated and re-opened in late December. We checked on the dinner menu, we noticed the prices have been cut almost by half. Our price index detector naturally told us to go in. We got a salad, deep fried oyster, grilled eel casserole, sashimi don and california rolls. The quality has been maintained as before. Good that we can have this place for dinner finally, not just limited for lunch.
