(淂記) Duckee restaurant, Causeway Bay, HK

The place is in the basement of the Lee Garden phrase 6 (opposite to the main Lee Garden complex).  I called in for a booking at 8pm (when it's about 6pm) but then got told it's fully booked and asked to change the booking at 7:30pm. So I asked if I should return the table at 8pm.  The reply was no need.  So I hurried to this place.  Ended up there were only 3-4 tables occupied (about 1/10th of the total).  The waiters were also in a rush to try to finish everything as soon as possible.  This simply told they didn't want to entertain any customers after 8pm.  I found it not nice to lie in that way and why not just tell that they would close earlier.  It was also very disappointing all the dishes we ordered weren't of any standard.  Bland chicken chilled in wine.  Thin soup.  Salty veggie.  interesting steamed dumplings and the oily salty stir fried cubes with sesame pastry.

Sen Ryo, Causeway Bay, HK

I'd prefer quality sushi rather than the quantity.  Not only the rice and sashimi are more premium, but also the side dishes and freshly ground wasabi make the whole meal more pleasant.

Cafe Milani, Times Square, Causeway Bay, HK

Tried their cakes and ice cream.  It's quite a classic flavour and style but a bit too sweet to me.  The coffee wasn't too aromatic.  Quite disappointed and wonder if the master chef might not have a good management team.  There are quite several branches opened in different areas at the same time.

We charge our phones, Hysan Place, HK

There were times I talked to some friends about some ideas of converting human energy into electricity, such as those gym equipments to power back and stored the electricity in battery whereas the more you work out, the less you pay the membership fee so as to encourage those gym goers to work out more.  This time I saw this one which is good for people to work out to charge their phones.

Aburi-En, Donburi, Causeway Bay, HK

Tried their grilled pork don and gyoza.  Both were not too impressive though not bad.  Missed the aromatic grill and the rice fragrance.  It's still good for a visit if you miss some Japanese grill pork don and this place offers pretty good dining area.

段純貞台灣牛肉麵 (Duan Chun Zhen Taiwanese beef noodle), Causeway Bay, HK

It was delightful to know this shop landed HK.  I promptly told my friends in Taipei that I had been there and tried their renowned beef noodle shop.  They felt they should have visited the original shop in Hsin Zhu (新竹) as their friends in Hsin Zhu often recommended them to visit this original shop.  My chat with them made them decide to go for a try.  Besides the beef noodle soup, I tried their wonton and chicken thigh noodle.  Quite good as well though I prefer their beef noodle soup.

Skye, French restaurant, Hotel Park Lane by Pullman, Causeway Bay, HK

This French restaurant served a 3 course lunch set at around HK$400.  I chose a Nicoise salad, beef filet and a fruit salad with sorbet.  I couldn't say the salad is a salad.  As seen, there were 2 tiny veggie on 4 tiny tuna slices with capers and sauce.  The main course was also very small.  The dessert wasn't too big as I had a very close up to take the photo.   All the dishes weren't bad though.  My business friends told me this is a fine dining and Michelin graded....etc.  Once again, I told them my dining experiences over the years in various places in Southern France and Paris, from local to high end restaurants that I really don't consider fine dining means "tiny".  This kind of so-called fine dining is just a HK-style fine dining.

Mini Bangkok Thai Food Station, Causeway Bay, HK

Found some good somtam from this shop.  We also had stir fried seafood rice noodle, beef boat noodle with complimentary tom yam soup and longan juice.  The set was just in the range from HK$68-88 and it's quite a large portion.  Fresh seafood and the tom yam soup was quite impressive.

Dao Cheng (稻埕) Taiwanese restaurant, Causeway Bay, HK

There has been an increasing no. of Taiwanese restaurants.  Tried their white bitter quard stir fried with beef lunch set.  The presentation was quite Japanese.  Ordered an appetizer bean curd with cucumber in black sesame dressing.  Definitely will come back for another try.

Rice drink by Dao Cheng (稻埕) Taiwanese restaurant, HK

My grand ma often told me the good things about rinsed rice water.  Boil it as a drink, rinse on face to cleanse pimples....  That's something environmental in the old days.  I was excited to see this drink served by this restaurant, and in a very classy way.

Leah Cafe, Causeway Bay, HK

Quite often as when I brought friends to try new restaurants that it might not be as good as the first visit.  The common reason is the timing.  I usually bring friends on weekends that the restaurant would be busier and so the service and food quality might not be the same.
Tried their Quinoa salad and club sandwhich on this first visit.  Quite impressive with their light dressing and the buffalo cheese on the side.  The place is in a good ambience and next to a play room center.  It might be a bit noisy when some kids passed by.

池記,Chee Kei noodle shop, Causeway Bay, HK

Seems like those established noodle shops have become more than serving their iconic noodle.  This renowned one offers fried rice and quite a wide range of Cantonese food.  At first I doubted if their fried rice would be good; so I still ordered their noodle.  However, I had a bite of their fried rice and it's surprisingly good.  Very aromatic with nice shrimp and BBQ pork cubes.  At average, it's better than Tasty Congee.
