Shek O, HK
Used to come here when I was a kid. This beach taught me how dangerous the sea could be. There are quite many currents and big drops because of the rough sea wave from strong easterly wind. I recall my cousins got wounded in this beach. However, if the south western wind (June to August) is blowing, this beach would become very calm and good swimming.

Swiss chicken thigh by Downstairs Cafe, Quarry Bay, HK
The Swiss chicken (as sweet chicken) was a legendary dish in local style restaurant in the 60's to 80's and now become a revival as a trend. It seems many restaurants just focus on how sweet and dark the soy sauce they use but forget some other ingredients like bay leave and Chinese rose wine. Yet, cooking chicken in sweet sauce over 30 minutes would make the chicken meat a bit too mashy, especially for those frozen chicken. Supposed the sugar should be put in 10 minutes before it's done.

Banchan and Cook, City Plaza, HK
Actually the appertizer made me come in for a dinner. Tried their cabbage and cucumber kimchi and marinated tomatoes, the mains beef stew and pork with omelette rice. It seem all the dishes are generally a bit too sweet. Reminded me of a local celebrity chef often using sugar for all dishes as the first step.

Sun's Bazaar, Pacific Place, HK
Have seen some instant noodle products under the brand of Kiki (my favourite restaurant in Taipei) in groceries. This time I noticed this restaurant served a wide range of famous dishes from Kiki, such as hot chili chive black beans minced pork (蒼蠅頭) and drunken chicken. The restaurant also served some Indochinese cuisine from Vietnam, Thai, Malay to Singaporean....

Rise Kitchen, Tseung Kwan O, HK
There are quite a number of cozy restaurants in the sea front area. The pastry aroma drove my attention to try this shop. So we tried their iced mocha and a strawberry pie. Had a bite of the pie and a sip of the mocha. That reminded me of Paul BKK.
