2 bed room water pavilion, Niyama Maldives

At the tip of the water villa section, there goes a 2 bed room pavilion with a big pool on a 270 degree panoramic sea view.

Beach studio and pavillion, Niyama Maldives

There are 3 room types along the 2 beach sides of this island. The basic one is a one bedroom studio (photo 1) and next to it is the one with a plunge pool (photo 3). Both of these 2 room types are about 40-50% cheaper than the water villa. For those with kids or in a group of 4 persons, it would be nice to have a 2 bedroom pavillion (photo 4-8).

Maldivian dinner buffet, Epicure of Niyama Maldives

The resort has different themed dinner buffet each night. Lucky that on the first night that's a local buffet. I can see the local people use quite a lot of coconut and nuts (cashew and peanuts) and a lot of seafood (mainly tuna, white coral fish, big prawns and squid). Their frying technique is pretty good and the chefs often use some moderate amount of various spices, probably under the influence of its neighbouring countries Sri Lanka and India. Very fresh seafood of course but the veggie is a bit not so. No complaint since there is not enough flat land for agriculture. Overall, the local food is better than expected in considering this place is so far away from Male (the capital city).

Cast away on a small island, Niyama Maldives

The resort offered some compensation for the noise problem resulting in a room change. So I got a special boat ride to an island of about 2 miles north of Niyama and it's owned by Niyama. As I saw their umbrella on the island, this was gonna be quite special. The staff prepared some icy water and soda and towels, checked the island was secured and left a cell. phone for S.O.S. The island is about 200 meters long and took about 5 minutes to walk around. The sand is very powdery and there I spent 2 hours for a cast away experience.

Niyama Maldives, part 2

Niyama resort is a 2nd sister property newly established by the Desert Palm resort in Dubai. The first one is the renowned Huaven Fushi. My first intention of choosing this resort is part of their underwater dance club called Subsix (photo 1) and above it is a water restaurant called the Edge. Unfortunately, the resort manager told me that Subsix has a sinking issue that they need to fix it before it got leaked. So the opening time is now postponed until September, originally in early June. Actually I found out quite a no. of water villas are still to be fixed and in fact, I changed to another room due to some electronic distribution box being so noisy in the middle of the night. As I chatted with other guests (BTW, half of the guests are from China), some rat problem is there. Seems like the resort needs to have a serious overall check.
