Business class A310 Royal Jordanian Air - HKG to BKK

*remarks: Royal Jordanian Air started flying A330 between HKG-BKK as of late 2010.
So at this peak season of CNY holiday, a CX y-class ticket would cost over HK$4,000 and not even with a seat availability of the exact dates you want. So I chose to try the business class on Jordan Air at just HK$3,300 something. However, it turned out it's a very nice relaxing trip that I could sleep over an hour on an advanced versatile seating angle to sleeping position. Guess what 2 major things they don't have while in most airlines even economy class has, at least for int'l flights over 2 hours.

no satellite phone and no noisy Mainland traveler?

haha... the latter ones were indeed there but at the back of the jet. However, this time those groups were more gentle and I could say even better than some other groups. There was a satellite phone I guess.

The first thing is almost a must for all classes of travel in many airlines. The second thing should have been there for int'l flight over 2 hours, especially on business class.

I guess they missed the TV in front of each seat, the head set and the movie.
This is a nice airline and also $1,000 HK dollar cheaper then CX.

You know what? CX is very terrible. When I checked ticket to BKK first week of Jan for March 19(Chris' one-week Spring Break) to BKK we can only be on the waiting list(but the ticket is cheap, only $880 from LA to BKK, $80 more than to HK).
So I also reserved for mid June to be safe since the March one is low chance and too rush now.
The agent told me now for CX going to HK or BKK the booking is 6 months in advance, hard to believe.

I also guessed the missing thing may be pillow and blanket and socks.

Mmh... bingo.... it's the personal TV. If you notice my photos of the meal, that's it! No hot meal as the main course. I already wrote a complaint and I need to bring my personal bottled water. They use some interesting smell water. Not sure if the Dubai World has made them in trouble... The good thing is that I can sleep for over an hour since there is no TV. The meal finished very quickly like a snack.

hope Jordan Air doesn't read this blog, otherwise they will charge u the good-sleep surcharge :)

I think it is still worth it with no TV since the fare is cheaper than CX.
No TV is ok with short flight but not ok for long haul.
But even long haul if the fare is cheaper I rather go without TV as I sleep thru the whole trip any way. I didn't even eat any meal too when I had the coma.

Har.. surcharge? Good idea!

Sometimes it's true that we are living a world with too much things getting us busy.

Actually if you are flying J-class, you can request a portable DVD player. Given HKG-BKK is a short flight, they may not give you one unless you request it, but for the flight continuing to AMM, they will you handout the DVD player.

Thanks HW. I see and it's comprehendible to request a portable DVD player in that case. I also doubt why there is no video entertainment considering the seat designed is very advanced.
