Walking down the hill, the Peak to Central, Hong Kong

Thought of hiking from Central or Wanchai to the Peak many times at my high school time, especially those fun times cycling on Bowen Road on the mid level of Wanchai. So scenic and the tree fragrance is such a nice gift from our Mother Nature. So the last weekend, I decided to take an easy way (but like what our seniors said "going up on the hill is easier than walking down".) to walk down to Central from the Peak.

1. OK, find the Findlay Path on the right hand side of the Peak Tower. 2. See all those skyscrappers but an hour later they will be taller than me.

3. Then at the second last stop of the cable car, there are 2 roads to split. One is the Old Peak Road leading to the west of mid-level and it's faster, but I chose a longer one since I was not in hurry. I chose Barker Road. There the first nice mansion I came across - Villa Bianca. See that lamp on the entrance. It reminds me of Grasse of Southern France. 4. More nostalgic buildings.

5. Another luxury mansion. 6. Victoria House for the Chief Secretary for Government Administration政務司公館 - Hello, Mr. Tong.

7. I chose the Chatham Avenue and it's part of the mid-level natural trekking route. Then I found myself in a jungle. The trees so fragrant! 8. Though all those buildings seem to be so close to you but you need to take many Z winding roads like this.

9. Another luxury mansion on Chatham Ave. When I walked down, I knew why a golf car is needed. 10. the entrance, as no. 1 of Chatham Ave.

11. See this garage. It's just next to Chatham Avenue. So the residents park the cars here and take the golf car or walk back to their mansions. 12. No. 1, May Road 梅道.

13. See the Bank of China still quite far away. The mid-level is such a big hill valley and our seniors and the riches are so smart to build their houses here. 14. This is something we have to appreciate for someone to give this nice mansion for those women who need help and protection and it's a nice name too. It's on Bowen Road 寶雲道 - this name is such a memory to my high school time.

15. Another view to Mother's Choice building. 16. Want a stop? Still some way to go.

17. See the shorter building in the middle between 2 tall buildings. That's the building of the cable car terminus and it's the building now people talk about "cultural protection" and will soon be renovated as a hotel. I wonder who the tourists would want that location - maybe those who want to go to the Peak everyday. 18. 1915 - almost a century! Salute to St. Paul's Co-Ed.!

19. Government House for Mr. Tsang. 20. St. Paul's Church and view back to those sky scrappers.

21. Fringe Club on Wynham Street. 22. Almost a must for the tourists - Lan Kwai Fong. So the whole journey takes about 1.5 hours. Not bad.
