The city is a bit underdeveloped to me. The streets, the shops, the restaurants and even the shopping mall (claimed to be the biggest and newest one called Lucky Mall) (the last photo) are very 60's and 70's. It's even much older than some countryside towns of Thailand. When I talked to the locals, I feel like they still take pride of once defeating the Siamese (almost 4-500 years ago). That's how this city was named "Siem" (meaning Siamese) and "Reap" (defeated).
