It was a hospital built in 1867 when a crowd of immigrants moved in Wanchai from the mainland during the Tai Ping incident in the late Qing dynasty. It was the first Chinese run hospital before Tung Wah hospital was founded. Later on, after Tung Wah hospital expanded, this one was changed into a gym house (on an earlier post). It has then become a part of the renowned landmark in Wanchai - Blue House.
