Let's take a look at this restaurant Seven Seas (which requires dress code at night time without air-conditioning at 27-30 degree depending if you are close to the lamp. BTW, bear with someone who smoke when you are showing respect in the way you are dressed up).
1. Quality restaurant as claimed by the GM of this resort serves some tea bags like these. 2. Pancakes are not done - see that batter fluid.
3. Cold cuts are quite nice. Bread pretty good too. 4. the table. Coffee is below average.
5. I still prefer cold cuts to other hot food (like siu ma). 6. Interesting omelette. Quite grey...mmh... eggs from a sad hen?
6. Yoghurt with museli and nuts. The nuts and dried fruits should be covered. It gets softened and the fruits gets more bio. from the flies.

well there r too many farangs never open their eyes, while too many Asians use a ruler to measure bank notes to buy houses, to pay for vacations, all by cash, but they live on credit cards
so in those frogs eyes this lousy eatery may consider a Quality restaurant to them
Correct. There are some people who often live in their closets and see the whole world. Well this restaurant can be a gem in that GM's eyes regardless of what it is going to serve. Well the place itself is pretty nice but the senior management just mis-run it.
Not all hotels are as well run as MO's.
And not all alleged good food is up to the BKK/HK high-end standard.
You are lucky be able to tell the difference as you have seen and traveled enough. But for those frogs they might think this is super since they have not been to BKK and HK often enough.
You are one of those blessed ones who can tell the difference.

Yes, we should be thankful for what we have been given. Just after the breakfast, the local thai workers gave me a nice smile and they sweated while working. I sweat while having fun.
Stella. HK is nothing now, and BKK is very "baby" in term of luxury. Go take a look in Bejing (or even Shanghai) ppl will open their eyes in the term Quality and Luxury. And for course Dubai too!
NO, in terms of consistent quality and the worth of money spent, HK and BKK still trump Beijin, Shanghai and Dubai.
I am constantly told that Beijing and Shanghai only good at certain hotels, but the service and food standard is not consistent. Also, considered the high price it is not worth at all.
HK and BKK are still the best. This is the common remarks I hear from some frequent or full time travelers, including that Thai lawyer.
As to HK hotel, for each $1 you get $1 utility and enjoyment.
As to BKK hotel, for each $1 you get $2 utility and enjoyment.
As to China, for each $1 you get $0.50 utility and enjoyment, and with the $0.5 return you cannot tell whether it is fake or not. The above is the comment from a professional full time traveler.
