Kutna Hora, Czech

This town is about 65 kms south east of Prague and it's famous for its silver mine.  Though there is an express train service (about 50 minutes) stopping by this town, the local town public transportation isn't that convenient for you to go around in this area.  After arriving at this train station, we have to take another local train or bus to go to the downtown area (about 3-4 kms).  Usually the local train would connect the express train schedule, but unfortunately, there was some technical delay of the express train.  We were advised by the information counter to walk around this rural area for about 15 minutes to other local attractions and waited for a bus an hour later.

The town looks quite unique and should be quite busy in summer time.  It looks a bit depressive during winter season.  I somehow enjoyed this low key ambience.

Even though I walked up of about a few hundred feet high to this hillside, along the way upward and back on the other side downward, the view is worth it.

Got a very good rate from Wing On Travel online site at just HK$800 (incl. breakfast) for this nice hotel.  Later on as I was to introduce my other friends to try Wing On Travel, I got the answer that they prefer to choose Agoda as they consider those HK travel sites would have virus or hacker attack.  This is again something I really don't understand why most of the peoples' behaviour would be that constrained to only a few sites the majority take.  Today when I noticed on the Whatsapp circle that some "free" fake giveaway was on the viral circulation, so wouldn't it be even more devastating than just a simple hotel booking.  Sometimes it's more enjoyable to become and act to be ignorant.  

Back to this hotel, it's in a very convenient location, close to the train station and the main attractions.  Yet, quite a no. of nice restaurants are nearby.  

Portfolio restaurant, Prague

This restaurant was ranked on the 4th on tripadvisor, and on the Michelin guide  As it's very convenient and close to our hotel (though the hotel front desk didn't suggest this on their recommendation to us), out of curiosity we came here for a try.  The soup and the bread were quite impressive, but that's it.  The mains Rib Eye Steak (as shown on the menu, but ended up it's a veal chop) and the duck were somewhat disappointing.    When the waiter came to ask if everything ok, I asked if I made a wrong order for a veal that originally I was to order a rib eye steak.  I got the answer "veal is the rib eye steak".  I couldn't debate with him since I'm not sure if that's the local culture for considering veal as rib eye steak too.  As for the duck, it's much too chewy.  Ordered the vanilla ice cream on apple pie and a melted choco. cake.  It reminded me of TWG's ice cream - never melting even in your mouth.  I felt like eating glue....
