3 course lunch set by Le Grand Perle, Bangkok

1st photo: Nicoise Salad with grilled chicken breast.  The green is nice and especially its nicely dried with the water spinned away (most restaurants neglect this important part for making the green dry and chilled when making salad).  The Anchovy is nice too.  However, one flaw - the chicken was grilled on a gas stove, not charcoal.  I hate the grilled food on gas stove as you can smell the gas left on the food and I still don't know why those people lining in a long queue in those famous sushi restaurants in Hong Kong and didn't notice those restaurants offer the same gas stove grilled food.

2nd: the bread is very nice and what's more, the waiter replaced another basket when he saw me taking the bread like someone just out of the prison, and even before the salad came, 4 out of 5 already gone.  So a very discerning waiter!  The table setting is nice too.  About the bread, the texture is quite nice, soft inside and crispy outside (served very warm).

3rd: I ordered a sirloin.  The meat is ok but I can't ask for more as it's just a set meal at B450.  The red wine sauce is quite nice and not too salty.  Note the sauce is put in the tea pot.  The sauteed mushroom is also nice in such a small glass.  The potato bed is so so, but the setting is nice.

4th: the ice cream is quite disappointing, then the wrap is not cripsy.

5th: before the ice cream and this ice coffee, I could give the meal 6 out of 10 marks.  Now it dropped to 4.5.  The ice coffee is kind of a Thai taste - very sweet and with a lot of milk.

Yes, that river city is like a "neck chopping" tourist trap and I wonder why such a nice decent French restaurant can be there. Besides, their service is pretty nice.

To Anonymous, if you take the shuttle boat to Sheraton Royal Orchid, please be at the sathorn pier at every 05 or 35 (e.g. 1:35 or 6:05). The boat runs every 30 min. and departing Sheraton at 00 or 30. Taking a taxi - you need to tell the driver "Roy" "Ung" "Odd" "Kid" "Sir" "Lu" "Ton".

Hahaha, this is Thai English! You forgot the rong-lam (hotel in Thai), so it pronounce 'pai (to go) rong-lam roy-ung-odd-kid sir-la-ton'.
