Hong Kong Restaurant 港式茶餐廳, Central (next to Central market), Hong Kong.

*remarks: this restaurant was named to Tsui Wah in September, 2009.






Brought my sisters' families to this restaurant next to Central Market and it's another branch of Tsui Wah Restaurant 翠華茶餐廳, very successful restaurant chain in Hong Kong. Actually, most people forgot they were first famous for their fish balls in shark's cartilage soup, like Hui Lau Shan famous for its Turtle herbal jelly.

1. Mixed grill
2. toasted "pig" buns
3. beef fillet
4. Hainanese chicken rice
5. thick toast
6. Botisch soup
7. boil young chives (with abalone sauce)
8. grilled scallop and chicken steak

Overall, the food is nice and the environment of this one is better than Tsui Wah. Also good services - they ran out of the junior "pig" buns, then they got us the thick toasts. Then we expressed we were there for the "pig" buns. So immediately they made up for the normal size "pig" buns. Though it's nothing for a bread, they understand the customers. That's important and also leaves a good impression for the customers to re-visit again.

oh i really miss this one and this kind of HK culinary culture although our palate has been evolved, but this kind of HK tea room food never fade out in my memory and remain as part of my grown up

besides HK, lucky u guys live in north america still able to rerun this kind of childhood gourmet, but in bangkok HK tea room is in no avail

This kind of HK style cafe is always my favorite. You are right Mr. Tea, besides the good tastes of food, this has sentimental value to us as this reminds us of our childhood(youth days) in HK.
I have to eat this kind of food(HK style cafe) at least once a week in LA. My regular place is Garden Cafe.
OK, I will bring you some "Bo Lo Bao" and "Chu Chong Fun" next time when I come.(They can survive the long haul flight.) Please jot down as one of the items to bring you next time.

Interesting, they should have such in BKK. The milk tea should not be that difficult. Thailand Club, remember there was a time we went to a milk tea/toast place close to the river/China town area. That one did serve some nice milk tea.

Har... Stella, you brought in such a long way for the Chu Cheung Fan... I think Thailand Club should get one from Crystal Jade instead.. :)

If BKK does not have HK style cafe, maybe someone shall open one as milk tea has high profit margin, and so does the bread.

Thais has a very 'unique' palate, many authentic Chinese eateries attempt failed, only those with a Thai-Chinese twist survive (even those in a 5-star hotel struggle, they hv to be very good for the support of very few expats and high-so clients who wants 100% HK taste, and getting subsidize from the hotel)

so i don't think a HK tea room will work in Bkk

Yes, that "pig" bun is very nice. I like their chicken and Kai Lan rice with abalone sauce. Their ice coffee is very good.

ok, I know. Then the HK tea restaurant should have some food like, ham macaroni in tom yum, toast with coconut kayan, or heavy butter/milk, super sweet milk tea.

Man, yes, the ice coffee is also my favourite if I go there in the morning time or lunch time on weekend. The chicken and Ka Lan fried rice is superb!
