illegal CD or music download

I have been asked recently again on the reason why people buying illegal CD or getting illegal music download.  Actually nowadays I don't mind whoever does that as it's a personal preference.  However, don't make excuses for doing so.  If you think of an excuse of doing that, that means you have some guilty feeling on doing so.  If you want something cheaper or free, then do it.  No need to make excuse.

The illegal CD or free download doesn't need to pay any remuneration to musicians, singers and a bunch of production people.  Considering you have a daughter who spent more than 10 years on her study in music.  Then she gets to have her music released commercially.  Would you buy an illegal CD of your daughter's music or get a free download of it, to destroy your daughter's 10 years of music study?  Talking about profit making, the illegal CD is the one who makes the biggest profit.  Pressing a CD costs only HK$1 but they sell it at HK$20 - 20 times profit!  Someone also pointed out on the promo. cost spent by the rec. co.  However, any product needs promotion.  Why don't they claim those products having promotion.

Of course, there are lots of songwriters singers who are millionaire but remember those are in the States or Japan or Europe where the people would pay more respect to copyrights.  I have been to a very dim apartment in Beijing for meeting a songwriter.  All in a word, his living condition is so lousy.  His songs were used massively in China but he got not even a penny out of the use.  It really made my heart very sour.

Then another situation was in Bangkok.  I met a broken songwriter.  I suggested to bring him to an air-conditioned restaurant for lunch.  He simply refused so as he claimed once he tried that he would have missed that.  So I had noodle with him at a street stall.

All these are still in my mind.  I was once asking questions why, but now I gave up (only for asking why).  When I found out I can't change the world, I just let go of it.  The earth still moves on.  Everybody has a story.

So if you feel like buying a legal or illegal CD, just do it on your feeling.  No need to make excuses.  I don't blame any of my friends for doing so.  It's a personal matter.

I understand your point. Sometimes people like to have something to back up what they want to do. I think it's not necessary for someone to tell you that they buy illegal music and tell you why they buy it.

唱片公司也要減磅. 歌手宣傳都要減. 但又俾人話cheap. cheap 就不要買翻版. 買完又彈, 又話呢的歌咁差, 唔值用錢買. 咁差就唔好聽. 真奇怪.
