This is a small shopping mall in front of Marriott Vacations Club and next to Anantara resort on Mai Khao beach - only one restaurant, one small grocery, a Jim Thompson outlet and some local Thai souvenir shops.
1. the entrance. 2. The 3 flying watery turtles.
3. went in this restaurant called the Coffee Club. 4. an array of cakes.
5. the restaurant inside. 6. New York cheese cake - not bad and most of all, it's not too sweet.
7. Passion fruit cheese cake - quite good and the passion fruit got it less greasy. 8. Iced Cappucino and Mocha frappe - the good thing is that the syrup was served separately.
9. another view to this small mall. 10. On another day, I went in and tried their strawberry frappe and raspberry frappe - pretty nice. It's not artificially sweet.
11. Corn and Chicken cream soup - I can tell it's a canned soup. 12. garlic bread but a bit too greasy.
13. pesto pasta - this one is quite nice and the sauce is just to the right taste. 14. I think this restaurant is for the western food. This pad thai is quite disappointing though the presentation it's nice. However, considering it's just THB85 at a remote area, it's still ok to me.
15. carrot cake - this coffee shop must be good at cakes. This one is also pretty nice. 16. Choco mud cake - I guess the guests from Marriott and Anantara might not enjoy Choco cake. This one was kept for quite some time as the cream in the middle layer is like a cream bed - quite firm.

Turtle Village? from Stella's housemate :)
The set up of this Turtle Village and also the flying turtle fountain is similar to the one in Maui's Whaler Village. The only difference is this is turtle instead the whale. Maybe they went to Maui and Hawaii to get some idea.
The dessert drinks and the cakes do look good. I like the separate syrup for the drink. Smart idea.
This kind of mall in a hot resort destination maybe (99% maybe) owned by international investors, usually by investment fund.
Yes, I doubt it's related to Marriott as it's just in front of Marriott Vacation Club and on the second floor there is a Bill Bentley Pub. However, I noticed quite a no. of room guests taking those extra expensive taxi to Patong at THB1,000 or even more.... I was asked to go to Patong but I simply replied paying THB2,000 for a round trip to Patong and just get some food like half-western pizza or "look-alike" German/Russian cuisine at another THB1,500. Why not go get the grilled steak at JW Marriott at THB2,000 and it's still THB1,500 less. Besides, when you get on those taxi, they would solicit more than going to Patong by bombing you with lots of Elephant trekking, gems buying or cabaret show....etc. If those intend to stay in a resort for a tranquil atmosphere, they should change their mode to enjoy the time which is luxury for us from our city hustle lifestyle. This is the thing that if we are doing something, we should fall into the mood of what we are planning to do.
You are right SEA. If we are taking vacation then we shall be in the vacation mood and try to slow down a bit and enjoy the "once in a blue moon" of tranquil and peaceful paradise-alike precious moment.
That is why I hesitate to take vacation too much as I hate the "after vacation" feel.
In fact, I did not take any vacation longer than 5 days before 2005, but now I am addicted to it.
Yes, it's quite difficult for someone to adjust from fast to slow and then backward to fast. So try to be more flexible.
The resort in Cancun also looks like this one. Except they have dolphin fountain and dolphin theme instead of turtle or whale.
