Ootoya 大戶屋, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan

Got curious this time out of quite several trips to Japan, to try Ootoya in Sapporo. Probably due to the ingredients different (i.e. rice, vinegar, soy sauce...etc.), this one is a bit better than those in HK and BKK.
1. Fried chicken on salad bento.
2. Tuna don and wheat soba. Both are good. The rice is very nice and that told how the shop has been claiming on its family home cooking. Mom always makes nice rice!
3. Green tea ice cream sundae
4. Green tea pudding with milk ice cream. Both are very nice. Strong green tea flavour and not that sweet (a bit surprising). What surprised me is something very tiny - sesame. They put some white sesame and as I broke it. Wow, the strong aroma came out like volcano eruption bouncing on my taste buds. Then the red beans are very nice as it's from 十勝 (a place north east of Sapporo) where farms a lot of perfect Japanese red beans - round, full and condense texture. Later today I'll re-visit this Ootoya again for this lovely dessert!
5. the shop inside.
6. the leaflet introducing how Ootoya has been.
7. the shop is with a long line. See how this home style cooking is so popular.

Yes, but they eat a lot of rice with it and that's why they made that pretty salty.

Yes you are right. I can eat 3 bowls of rice easily on each meal with salty dish or curry dish.

I did see the locals taking a lot of rice, then veggie, then very small portion of meat. This is the basic eating pattern and triangle shape with rice/noodle/carbo. at the flat bottom, veggie in the middle lower section, meat in the middle higher narrower section...etc.

Red bean is good for you Pixmation. Green tea should be taken after some hot spicy or oily food. If taken solely, and when you have the low blood pressure, you would get a chance of dizziness.
