Takieng, Thai restaurant, Renaissance Mai Khao, Phuket, Thailand

The food from this Thai restuarant is half and half to me. The good dishes are their stir fried veggie with semi-sun-dried shrimp (photo 7), Gai Yang (grilled chicken) (photo 8), deep fried prawn with vermicelli (photo 10), stir fried peppercorn with beef (photo 11), and the dessert mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream (last one). The worst one is their Yum Som O (pomelo salad) - some very dried pomelo was used and too hard to chew. Photo 9 showed an interesting kai lan stir fried with roasted pork. Actually it's all fat pork with too little kai lan. Then the dessert poached bananas with ginger dark choco. ice cream. I can take quite heavy ginger flavour but this one is too ginger hot. Such an ice cream and ginger maniac as me could only finish 1/3 scoop.

Even you as the ginger and ice cream fan can only finish 1/3, this means this is not appealing.

On the other way round, it's too authentic. :)

So too authentic may not be good like in this case.
