Seen this train many times whenever I was in a taxi to or from downtown of Bangkok. This time I could try it at the convenience of staying at the airport hotel. The journey takes 30 minutes to the final stop Piyathai (connecting the BTS). However, if you carry heavy luggage, it's not a wise choice to take this train when you need to walk up and down. The ticket fare is relatively low at just THB45 (cheaper than BTS). Of course, one money one product - the train isn't a very comfortable one. The seat is too shallow and the air-conditioning isn't enough even though the train is only 1/3rd full.
