Tai Chung (台中) has become so famous of its tea culture and spreading with so many tea houses and restaurants, thanks to Chun Shui Tang inventing the renowned pearl milk tea (aka Bo Bao milk tea). However, it having being subtle over 2 decades since 1988 didn't let it be forgotten. This is the grace of the Taiwanese culture of their respect to the origin and root of culture. Chun Shui Tang landed at Taipei after such a long engagement to the other parts of the island. I was glad to visit its branch 4 years ago, and this time I was happy to see it expanding with more branches to the other parts of Taipei city. It should be noted that Chun Shui Tang's other signature dishes are their brown sugar mochi (sticky rice dumpling) and their dried bean curd soaked in spice soy sauce stock (鹵水豆干). However, this time as I had to avoid the crowd, I came here in an early morning for their milk tea and brown sugar mochi only.

Tai Chung and Chia Yee have lots of good snack food.
Do you like the pineapple fromn Sunny Slope?
That Sunny Slope brand has been so popular in HK too but the pineapple filling inside is too mashy. I prefer the classic one with some chunky chewing, e.g. those by Shun Shing - simple and basic.
I don't like Sunny Slope either as the pineapple cake tastes funny. Also quite expensive.
