This could be the cheapest but yet the most scenic bus trip I have tried. Just only Euros 1.5 you can take for about 20-30kms from Nice to Menton (the eastern end of Southern France, at the border with Italy). The journey time is about 1 hour something and quite some traffic in Monte Carlo (in the midway).

Yes, that reminds of the sharp cliff of Hua Lien of Eastern Taiwan.
Yes yes yes that was exactly what I was thinking too.
Since I did not go to too many places like you did, I can only relate this to the place I went before which is limited.
And the locals have a very beautiful term in Hua Lien as 清水斷崖.
