While the city has preserved its old town, on the north west coast of George Town, a newly developed area has brought many high rise buildings and some major shopping malls. Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon are on the seafront. They may not be as modern as those of BKK, but they offer a wide range of restaurants and shops.

At least they have Ding Tai Fung too not bad.
Ding Tai Fung is now in a fast food chain like McDonald's but the only difference is McDonald's won't repeat their "Times Magazine's posting in the 70's".
Oh I see.
Ding Tai Fund is an expensive fast food chain though.
