On the first day of arrival, I'd try to get some fresh fruits for the entire stay. Apple and orange are the regular fruits I always wanna get. It's also interesting to take a look at how the local people shop in the market.

Glad to see there is open air market in Frnace too. Very neat market.
You are right Sea. Market is one place we can observe local living and consuer behavior. Local eatery or restaurant(not the high end in 5-star hotel) is another place to check too.
